Bliss News: Execution of Statoil Peregrino Project

Bliss Americas is pleased to inform that we have successfully completed the execution of the prestigious Statoil Peregrino II WHP-C project. This project was executed through Wood Plc. / Kiewit Offshore Services Ltd.

Bliss Americas provided the following product line:

  1. Magnetic Level gauges
  2. Magnetostrictive Transmitters
  3. Guided Wave Radar Transmitters and
  4. Instrument Chambers for the Guided Wave Radar Transmitters

While executing the project, Bliss Americas ensured that all the Statutory and Regulatory requirements were met according to the customer needs. Bliss ensured that all the regulations were adhered to according to the Brazilian Statutory requirements as well, by providing products with INMETRO, IECEx, SIL 2 Certification.

Life Cycle Information was provided to the customer in the form of Manufacturer Record Book, both in English and Portuguese languages. This was also to ensure that the Brazilian guidelines were complied.

Boiler Water Level Gauge

The BN200 series is bi-color boiler water level gauge that meets ASME Section I –Power Boiler requirements, using high quality material and adhering to safety standards. The BN200 Bi-Color water level gauge can handle a maximum pressure of 220 kgf/cm2 (216 barG), and a maximum temperature of 701°F (372 °C).

Principles of the BN200 Series Bi-Color water level gauge

The air phase in the water level gauge is red and the liquid phase is green, ensuring a very clear visual of the water level. When the prism shaped liquid chamber of the water level gauge is filled with a clear liquid, due to the prism effect of the liquid chamber section, the light injected is bent extensively. However, when the liquid chamber is filled with air (gas) the light bending effect is slight and almost all of the injected light travels straight.

When color filters (red/green or red/blue) are set in the illuminator, as show in the diagrams on the left, the following different light phenomena occur: red light is transmitted when air (gas) covers the glass surface while green light is transmitted when transparent liquid covers the surface.

  • Developed for use with the BN200 series water level gauge, we have created a composite unit comprised of a special metal ring fused to glass that is extremely heat resistant. As the glass and metal are integrally fused together, the glass is stronger than most products, reducing the chance of glass damage almost completely.
  • Our innovative glass solution contains several oxides to improve its resistance to alkalis. These include zirconia, rare earths and alumina, all of which are highly resistant to dissolving, and maintain this property when incorporated into glass. It also contains properties found in regular glass such as heat stability and mechanical strength, allowing it to be used for industrial applications.

Gauge Valves

We want to optimize our efficiency when it comes to helping our customers, and one way to do that is to stock standard products for immediate shipping. Our standard Gauge Valve models include the 10S and 20S, available in a variety of sizes and materials.

150514Img11647Our 10-TU valves feature a straight type body with integrated seat and Elastomer (EPDM), a glass tube packing bush with integral seat, and PTFE valve cone.

These are primarily used for tubular type level gauges, for low pressure and temperature applications. They are equipped with mounting clamps to t glass protection rods. They also feature a ball check arrangement.

Image 20SOur Series 20 (20S and 20U) valves feature an integrated bonnet, forged offset steel body and stainless steel trim, with a wide choice of connections

The design incorporates ball check arrangements and union gauge connections, which permit simple installation and easy access to the ball check.

Float Failure Indication

For us here at Bliss, your project’s safety is front and center. We know you can’t afford losses of your process materials, so we’ve built Float Failure Indicators onto our gauges, so that you can visually tell if something is wrong.

As a standard feature on all our gauges, the bottom three flags are set in reverse. If these flags flip to the regular color, it will provide you with a visual indication of float failure. If this happens, you can immediately turn off your isolation valves and call us for a replacement float.

Transparent Glass Level Gauge

We know that sometimes you just need that visible confirmation that your fluids are at the right level, that your interface (where you can different the color of the fluid) is where it should be and that your operation is running smoothly. For a quick, efficient overview of your liquids, we present Bliss Anand America’s Transparent Glass Level Gauges.

The Transparent Gauge has two clear, glass panels, with the process fluid contained in the middle. The fluid level is visible through the glass; making it easy to check fluid properties, for example, color. These gauges can also be fitted with backlit illuminators to improve visibility.

Bliss Anand America provides these instruments in different models:

  • Series L – Series L Large Chamber Gauges are designed to give an accurate liquid level reading of liquids that have a tendency to surge or boil,  or are used for cryogenic applications
  • Series M – A general purpose gauge for mid-range pressure temperature applications
  • Series H – A heavy duty gauge for safe, dependable service

Sight Flow Indicator

Bliss Anand’s Sight Flow Indicators provide an effective way to view your process liquid or solid, at virtually any pressure, flow rate or temperature. Amongst our more standard products, these reliable, sturdy instruments allow you to visually check for any malfunctions or contaminations in your pipelines.


With various design options available for both screwed and flanged constructions, and a variety of metals available for construction, we’re able to give you standard products off the shelf in 2-4 weeks, and custom products in 4-6 weeks.


Flapper Type

Flapper Models indicate flow within a pipeline by the position of a vane or flapper in the center of the viewing window. These are recommended for applications involving transparent or slightly opaque liquids. Flapper models are bi-directional and designed for both horizontal and upward vertical flow applications. When it is not necessary to view the flow motion, the same basic indicator is supplied without a flapper component.

Rotary Type

Rotary Models indicate flow by the spinning of a rotor, and are suitable for any flow direction. These are primarily used in applications involving dark solutions, because the rotor motion is easily seen even from a distance. These can also be used for applications with transparent solutions or gases. Rotors are constructed with materials that withstand a variety of fluids, and should be used if the flow rate needs to be detected.

Drip Tube Type

Drip tube models are used for vertical, downward flow applications in distillation or similar systems involving very low or intermittent flow. One of the biggest advantages of the drip model is that there is no obstruction to the downward flow. These models can also be supplied without drip tubes for flow in any direction.

The models mentioned above are available as both screwed and flanged double-window indicators, and the material of construction can be customized based on product requirements.
